War in the Middle East would create ‘vacuum’ for Isil terrorists, says Dominic Raab

A war with Iran would create a "vacuum" for Isil and terrorists in the Middle East, Dominic Raab has said. The Foreign Secretary said while the United States has "a right to exercise self-defence", the UK wants "de-escalation and the stabilisation of the situation".

"A war is in no one’s interests. The only people that would gain would be Daesh and the terrorists who would exploit the vacuum," he said.

"We also need to be clear that there is a route through which allows Iran to come in from out of the international cold and that that opportunity is there for them if they do the right things so I think whilst we need to contain various actions of Iran, we also need to de-escalate and stabilise…
