Venues to be forced to develop plans to deal with terror attacks and not rely on ‘have a go’ heroes

Venues which regularly host large events will be required to plan responses to terror attacks rather than relying on ‘have a go heroes’ under Tory plans.

Ministers want to put a legal requirement on businesses to have a plan in place to deal with terrorist attacks rather than relying on the quick thinking of ‘have a go heroes’.

The proposal is being backed by a group of terror victims including Brendan Cox, the widower of the late MP Jo Cox who was murdered by a far right activist in 2016.

The principle behind the plan is that private venue owners which host hundreds of people for events should have a plan to deal with terrorist attacks in the same way that they have to obey health and safety…
