Ring of Honor’s high-flying sensation Flip Gordon was given one final opportunity to qualify for ALL IN this afternoon, after trying desperately for months now to somehow earn his way onto the card.
Per the order of Cody Rhodes and his “Golden Ticket” event, Gordon was allowed to partner with any wrestler of his choosing to take on the pairing of independent star MJF and Impact Wrestling Knockouts legend Madison Rayne.
The intergender bout went down this Friday night for the WrestlePro promotion in Rahway, New Jersey and as previously announced, Flip’s partner was none other than Brandi Rhodes! However, due to injuries suffered while she was on tour with Stardom in Japan, Brandi was unable to compete and therefor selected her own replacement for the big match… Bernard the Business Bear!
Unfortunately for Flip and his partner – an actual live bear – the unlikely team was unable to score the victory after Brandi hit MJF with a low blow in eyesight of the referee, according to David Bixenspan on Twitter. After the referee declared the bout a disqualification, MJF and Madison Rayne are now officially confirmed for the ALL IN event on September 1st in Chicago, IL. Luckily for Bernard, we hear he’s pretty close to Cody and the gang, so he’ll probably be able to score a ticket.
As for Flip, this appears to be the end of the line. He’s done just about everything there is to do in order to get booked, including crash the ALL IN press conference in Chicago last month, brawling with Marty Scurll and Hangman Page before being dumped through a table.
