The building of a privately funded wall on the US border with Mexico has descended into acrimony as a local mayor received death threats and the government demanded a gate be kept open.
A group called "We Build The Wall," which raised more than $24 million from nearly 300,000 donors on the crowdfunding website GoFundMe, has so far built a mile of 20ft-high metal bollard fencing along the frontier.
The wall is located on private land outside Sunland Park, New Mexico, a town of 17,000 people across the border from Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, one of the most violent cities in the world.
