It was announced earlier today by Raw General Manager Kurt Angle that Braun Strowman and Alexa Bliss will be teaming up during the upcoming Mixed Match Challenge series on Facebook Watch. Not to be outdone, Smackdown General Manager Daniel Bryan has announced Charlotte Flair and Bobby Roode as the first team from the Smackdown brand. Roode and Flair indicated on social media for weeks that they would like to team up together for the show, and it appears as though they will be getting their wish. The new series will be premiering on Facebook Watch on January 16th. Stay tuned for more Mixed Match Challenge team announcements.
As mentioned a few weeks ago, one event being advertised for the fan festival prior to New Japan Pro Wrestling’s Wrestle Kingdom 12 event was a video game announcement. This fueled speculation that the Japanese promotion could be announcing their first video game. An announcement has been made, and it turns out that New Japan Pro Wrestling will be part of the new “Fire Pro Wrestling World” video game for the PlayStation 4. The video game will be coming out this summer and it will featured a Young Lion story mode as well. This will be the first time that the Fire Pro video game series will feature a partnership with an actual wrestling promotion.
Chris Jericho and Kenny Omega are set to do battle in what promises to be an epic no-disqualification match at Wrestle Kingdom 12 in just a few hours. The match has been hyped up for weeks now, and fans will finally learn who “the best in the world” is very soon. The match marks Jericho’s return to New Japan Pro Wrestling for the first time in decades. It’s a historic match for Jericho, and after receiving some fan art from a fan, Jericho announced that he will be dedicating his match to two of his “fallen brothers” in the wrestling industry: Chris Benoit and Eddie Guerrero. As usual, Wrestle Kingdom 12 will air on January 4th.
I really like this fan art by @richard_I_P. I dedicate tomorrow’s match to the fallen brothers… #AlphaVsOmega @njpw1972
