Modena win battle over Treviso

Three from the four best Italian league teams (Trento, Cuneo, Piacenza) claimed victories. Treviso did not find the receipt to beat Modena.

Modena won the 97th edition of the Italian classic against Treviso. It was a great game, played at a very high level and with a playoff intensity. Thrilling game from start to finish for the 5000 fans at the PalaPanini. Esko MVP.

RPA-LUIGIBACCHI.IT PERUGIA – BRE BANCA LANNUTTI CUNEO 1:3
A good reaction meant Perugia took the first set but then Cuneo took charge thanks to some good blocking and serving. This is Perugia’s seventh consecutive loss. Cristian Savani (RPA-LuigiBacchi.it Perugia): “We knew it was going to be a very difficult game, but we reacted and improved, that’s what we wanted. We played with fighting spirit and will to do well, which was not the case in recent encounters”.

MARMI LANZA VERONA – ARAN CUCINE ABRUZZO PINETO 3:0
Verona got rid of Pineto in just over an hour of play in front of 3000 fans. Howard MVP. Daniele Sottile (Marmi Lanza Verona): “It could have been a tricky game, but in reality it went all for the best and our mission to get the three points was accomplished in the best possible way. Tonight again, the combination block-dig was our main weapon”.

PRISMA TARANTO – ITAS DIATEC TRENTINO 0:3
The league leaders left Taranto no chance. It lined up its best six and won it without any trouble in a Pala Mazzola gym that registered its record of the season with 2500 fans.

COPRATLANTIDE PIACENZA – YOGA FORLI 3:1
Piacenza moves up to third place in the table thanks to its 3-1 victory over Forli. Bravo was key, consistent during the whole game, doing a good job both in attack and reception.

ANDREOLI LATINA – ACQUA PARADISO MONZA 0:3
Latina’s positive run was stopped by Monza, which won in straight sets. Only the first set was tight as Gavotto showed the way to go for the guests.

ESSE-TI CARILO LORETO – TONNO CALLIPO VIBO VALENTIA 2:3
Vibo Valentia came back from Loreto’s Palaserenelli gym with a tie-break victory. The serve proved to be the main weapon of Jon Uriarte’s team to beat Loreto, which had got off to a brilliant start (25-16) and managed to force a tie-break after trailing 2-1. Loreto were also ahead for most of the fifth set but Barone and Gonzalez made the difference on the serve. Loreto is now three points from Forli and safety.
