A Gurugram Durga Puja pandal has successfully created a world record for most people blowing conch shells, traditionally known as ‘shankh’ at the same time.

The Durga Puja which is organised by Bangiya Parishad annually in sector 56, Gurugram decided to celebrate Durga Ashtami in a different way this year. They attempted to break the world’s record of 295 people blowing conch shells at the same time in the Bahamas in 2013.
The record attempt took place on October 17 in front of 10 observers and two witnesses from the Guinness Book Of World Records, the Times of India reported. 472 people gathered at the pandal to blow conch shells in unison. 434 participants were adjudicated to be qualified after three attempts, each that lasted for a time period of 10 seconds.
