Monday News Update

Bryan and I will be back tonight with Wrestling Observer Radio covering Raw and the latest news. You can also send e-mail questions to the show to mailbag@wrestlingobserver.com.

There are expectations for Raw to do its best rating since football season started with a full week of promotion for Bill Goldberg. Goldberg brought his family in and did a lot of media this morning. The football game is the Jets and Cardinals, with neither team with winning records, although the Jets are still the New York market. Canadian ratings are not expected to be good given the Blue Jays are in the baseball playoffs against the Cleveland Indians and the Blue Jays draw incredible ratings throughout Canada.

The advance for the WWE tapings tonight and tomorrow in Denver must not be that good because there are local reports of tickets being given away, as in hundreds of them for the shows. Locally they started pushing Kevin Owens vs. Seth Rollins for the Universal title and Roman Reigns vs. Rusev for the U.S. title for tonight, which are likely dark matches. For tomorrow, with no John Cena on the show, the main event dark match being pushed is Dean Ambrose & Randy Orton vs. A.J. Styles & Bray Wyatt.

On the TNA front, on Thursday the contents of the lawsuit are expected to be released. We pretty much went into the financial mess everything is in. There are people, including Billy Corgan, who want the company but the issue is taking care of the debt which nobody wants to do.

In the story on Alberto Del Rio and Paige getting engaged last night, it should be noted that Del Rio is not yet divorced, although he is going through a divorce.

As noted yesterday, after Raw tonight will be Legends with JBL featuring Bruno Sammartino.
Daniel Bryan got pub yesterday in New York as he was at the Islanders game at the Barclays Center and did a television interview after the first period talking about the origination of the “Yes” chant, which Islanders fans now chant after every goal.  Was told he came off very likeable (thanks to Denis Gorman)
There will be a Booker T roast on 11/10 at the Houston Improv.  Among those roasting him will be Stevie Ray, Sharmell, Bruce Prichard, The Dudleys and MVP.

Maria Kanellis was back on CNN today talking about Donald Trump and her experiences with him on “The Apprentice.” She has been doing media and is very negative on Trump.
If anyone knows contact information for Wendi Richter, let me know. One of the Japanese promotions would like to get in touch with her.
APW Halloween Hell from Friday night in Daly City, CA before 287 fans: Jeff Cobb and Karl Fredricks co-won Battle Royal, Joey Ryan b Matt Carlos (Ryan then plugged an 11/11 match with Cody Rhodes in the same building), Jacob Fatu (who got a recent WWE tryout), won three-way over Will Rude and Marcus Lewis, Rik Luxury b Will Cuevas in a dog collar chain match, Shozti Blackheart b Desi de Rata, Reno Scum b Jeff Cobb & Karl Fredricks, Matt Hardy b JR Kratos, MVP b Jody Kristofferson to win the Universal title and then turned heel. Evidently a fan let off a smoke bomb in the arena at the end of the match. Fans were chanting “Delete” and “Obsolete” at Hardy after he won. Jeckles distracted Kratos to allow Hardy to win. (thanks to Mike Lano)
The debut of Wrestle Circus was at a nearly full Ironwood Hall in Austin, TX. There were a number of no-shows, including Davey Boy Smith Jr. and Michael Elgin due to injury, Lince Dorado and Tama Tonga. Ethan Carter III was given their heavyweight title over local star Ray Rowe in the main event. Jordan Len-X b Trevor Lee, Andy Dalton b Mike Dell, Hangman Page b Willie Mack, Jervis Cottonbelly NC Dick Justice (this was announced as a falls count anywhere match and they brawled out of the building with the idea the match continues until the next show), Scorpio Sky won the Sideshow title in a four-way over DJZ, Aaron Solow and Ricky Stars, Laredo Kid b Carson, Donovan Dijak b Keith Lee (best match on the show based on our reports), Tony Nese b Sammy Guevera (Nese tried to play up being a WWE star), Christi Jaynes won three-way over Leva Bates and Jessica James, Ethan Carter III won four-way over Ray Rowe, Colt Cabana and Lance Hoyt to become the first champion in an elimination match.  Cabana was out first, followed by Hoyt. Bates was dressed up like Matt Hardy and everyone was chanting “delete” at her.
