On Friday afternoon at the ATP Finals in London Alexander Zverev and John Isner will face off for the sixth time in career. The German leads head to head meetings 4-1, the American only won at this years Miami Open final in three sets after a very balanced match.
Novak Djokovic leads head to head against Marin Cilic 16-2. The Croatian only defeated the Serb at 2016 Paris Masters quarter-finals and this years Queens championship clash on grass saving match points. Djokovic won their last match at the Paris Masters earlier this month.
Analyzing his three-set win over Isner, Cilic said: It was very difficult. The first set was extremely tough. John played a great tie-break and I had to stay focused. I served really well and I am really pleased with the win.
I felt that I had that momentum towards the end of the second set. I felt the ball well and got some good points on Isners serves. He hit a few double-faults on the break points – that helped – but I stayed patient and I managed to break back and play some good tennis towards the end. Meanwhile commenting on the Davis Cup featuring his country Croatia, and so himself, against France in Lille next week, the second ATP Finals alternate Borna Coric said: I expect a very good tie, there are good players, 30,000 fans and a great atmosphere.
I hope to win, this is our goal: in 2016 we did not manage to lift the trophy, now I think we have a strong team and I hope we will succeed. I always played well in Davis Cup, Coric added in an interview to Sport Klub.
