During today’s third-quarter earnings report, WWE announced a WWE Network subscriber count of 731,000. As a result of the low number, WWE immediately cancelled the six-month commitments, changed the month-to-month price to $9.99 and will be offering a free month-long trial in November.
In addition to the WWE Network numbers, the company released the pay-per-view buy figures for their July, August and September events.
WWE announced that pay-per-view revenue was $3.7 million for the quarter, down from $14.6 million from the three pay-per-view events in the third quarter in 2013, $16.3 million for the third quarter in 2012 and $15.8 million in the third quarter of 2011.
The WWE Money In The Bank pay-per-view in July drew 99,000 buys, down from the 199,000 buys in 2013 and 188,000 buys in 2012.
The WWE SummerSlam pay-per-view in August delivered 147,000 buys, down from the 298,000 buys in 2013 and 358,000 buys in 2012.
Finally, the WWE Night Of Champions pay-per-view in September did 48,000 buys, down from the 175,000 buys in 2013 and 189,000 buys in 2012.
