2 New SummerSlam Matches Set, Strowman Losing MITB Contract Soon?

Smackdown General Manager Paige promised earlier that she would be revealing AJ Styles’ opponent for SummerSlam during last night’s episode of Smackdown. The GM did not disappoint as it was confirmed that Samoa Joe will be facing AJ Styles for the WWE Championship during the huge event in Brooklyn, New York next month. Joe ambushed Styles and made him pass out with the Coquina Clutch before signing a contract to make the match official. Joe and Styles have had several fantastic matches over the course of their careers, but they will now be given the chance to show off what they are capable of when they compete at SummerSlam this August with the coveted WWE Championship on the line.

There was also another championship match that was made for SummerSlam during last night’s episode of Smackdown. Becky Lynch has become one of the most popular female stars on Smackdown recently, and she has been picking up plenty of victories as well. After she was able to defeat current Smackdown Women’s Champion Carmella on Smackdown yesterday in a non-title match, it was announced that Lynch will be facing Carmella once again at SummerSlam in Brooklyn’s Barclays Center with “The Princess of Staten Island’s” title on the line. Lynch was the first-ever Smackdown Women’s Champion and a win at SummerSlam would officially mark her second time as the champion of the Smackdown brand.

During Monday Night Raw earlier this week, Stephanie McMahon announced that there will be a rematch between Kevin Owens and Braun Strowman at SummerSlam that will see Owens win “The Monster Among Men’s” Money in the Bank briefcase if the latter loses the match in any way. As far fetched as it may seem, the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Radio had Dave Meltzer speculating that the company could very well be considering switching the briefcase over to Owens soon. Meltzer also noted that this is ultimately a very unlikely outcome at the moment since WWE is reportedly glad with the way that fans have been reacting to the dynamic between Owens and Strowman during their feud thus far.
